How To Remove Rug Stains

How To Remove Rug Stains
You never know when your rug gets stained, especially if you have kids and pets around. And nothing can be more irritating than having to remove stains from your rug. Follow these rug cleaning tips to easily remove rug stains.

It is very important that all rug stains are attended to as quickly as possible. This is because nearly all stains can be effectively removed using water or some cleaning product if removed quickly.

It is, however, always better to test cleaning agents on a small portion of your rug first. This is because many rugs are sensitive and may loose colour when in contact with other chemicals.

Never Rub Stains Harshly

The most important thing to remember is not to rub rug stains harshly as this will only make the stain spread. Rubbing the stain may also cause permanent damage to the fabric.

It is when the stain sets into the fabric that chemical reactions make it difficult to remove the stain.

Mildews and moulds can't be removed overnight for in the first place, they don't grow overnight. However with lots of patience and simple solutions, it is possible to get rid of these stains.

Vacuum The Rug After Getting Rid Of The Stains

Use lemon juice, salt solution or non-chlorine bleach for coloured rugs. If you are sure hydrogen peroxide will not harm the rug, you can also use it to remove the stains.

If you have an egg or dairy product stain, blot the stain with ammonia and then sponge using warm water. Then you blot the stain with a mixture of white vinegar and warm water.

Whatever the stain may be, you have to place paper towels on it to dry. Sometimes, you may have to leave it on overnight to ensure the complete removal of the stain. Once the stain is dry, brush dried particles away, and do a final vacuum of the rug.
